Can you believe that Christmas is upon us again? There must be some mathematical formula that proves that years go by faster in proportion to the older you get.

As we prepare for Santa, we look forward to welcoming old friends back to spend Christmas with us Aghadoe. Last Christmas day we awoke to a magical snow scene. Let’s hope lightening or should I say snow, will strike twice, if only for the children’s’ sake.

Our Christmas programme this year is our most exciting yet and dovetails beautifully with the activities of Killarney’s first “Christmas Festival”. An ice rink, guides walks and treasure hunts all offer wonderful activity choices to allow us feel less guilty about the pudding & chocolates.


2005 was an incredible year for us. We finished and opened our 24 suites and Penthouse. The reaction has been astonishing. During the year we were delighted to receive the hotel industry’s highest accolade, AA 5 Red Stars. The Spa was awarded “Best New Destination/Hotel Spa” at The Irish Beauty Industry Awards. Both awards are testimony to the commitment and dedication of our wonderful staff.

2006 looks to be another excellent year and with more exciting developments planned in the New Year. Our builder Declan Costello is delighted that he will again manage to “winter” at Aghadoe. From December 29th until March 10th, he will beaver away on refurbishing our Reception, restaurant, and Lounge & meeting rooms. The design has been created by Syntax of London and is incredible.

This year we decided to open a Christmas Gift Shop in the heart of Killarney Town. We felt that our Hotel and Spa offer great Christmas gift solutions for all the family but our tranquil location on the hill of Aghadoe made it difficult for shoppers to access. The solution was to bring tranquil Aghadoe to downtown Killarney.

Christmas At Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa, Killarney

Let us whet your appetite with a brief outline of our Christmas Programme.

24th December 2005
The festivities begin from midday on Christmas Eve, when you arrive to crackling open log fires. While we attend to your luggage, relax and unwind in the Heights Lounge with traditional afternoon tea. As evening draws near, enjoy the opportunity to meet your hosts Pat and Marie Chawke and welcome old friends and new whilst sipping a glass of seasonal mirth. Later our resident pianist and violinist will serenade you during a sumptuous dinner in Fresdrick’s at the Heights. Guests returning from church will be welcomed with an Irish Coffee and mince pies at midnight, before retiring to their luxurious bedroom.

25th December 2005
A bountiful breakfast buffet is served from 8am to 10am on Christmas Morning. At midday, bucks fizz is served as a hearty welcome is extended for a seasonal visitor bearing presents for children before a traditional Christmas lunch is served by our award winning brigade of chefs. Our guests can choose from many activities to while away the afternoon from a brisk walk around the Killarney Lakes to a relaxing treatment in the Aveda Spa. Late in the evening, Fredricks is once again the centre of attention when a lavish and exquisite buffet is served. Finish the evening relaxing in our lounges or the Lake Bar, playing board games and nibbling on Christmas cake.

26th December 2005
On St Stephen’s morning, as is custom, you may avail of a deserved lie-in, as the breakfast service is extended to 11am. During the afternoon, it is time to wrap up well and explore some of the local countryside or take part in a challenging hunt for treasure which has been carefully put together for your enjoyment. For the less energetic, curling up in front of our in-house video channel may be the order of the day, and once again our therapists are waiting to pamper you in the Aveda Spa. Whilst you have been exploring the afternoon, our kitchen brigade will have prepared and produced another delicious five course dinner, for you to return and enjoy while relaxing to the music of this evenings musical trio.

27th December 2005
Begin the day with Full Irish Breakfast. Some of you will leave us today and some will avail of our special stay on rates.
