Jason Higgins – Operations Manager
“I have been a team player here at Aghadoe for the past 13 years, starting as Bar Manager and then moving to Operations in 2004. Killarney has been my home since 1988, I moved here from Mallow in Co. Cork but originally hail from a seaside resort in North Wales.
If I’m not at work here in Aghadoe you will probably find me at home with my beautiful and very patient wife Marian, and my two children Sinead and Cathal.
I love to be out and about in the National Park. How couldn’t you be happy living here in such wonderful surroundings? We came to Killarney on a family holiday in 1976 and I can remember my father making a statement that ‘one-day we will live here’. Well his dream came through, and I for one am happy to be living it.
My only other real passion in life is wine. I can sit for hours reading and learning about the different grape varieties, their origins and of course as they say the proof is in the tasting. I am often asked what’s my favourite wine and my answer is simple – the one I enjoy the most is the wine I have with good and memorable company.”
David O’Brien – Assistant General Manager
“It has been my pleasure to be part of the team here at the Aghadoe Heights Resort & Spa for over 13 year.
My job is very varied and I enjoy experiencing something new every day. But by far my favourite part of my role as Assistant Manager are the people who come through our doors. It is always a pleasure to welcome new guests to Killarney and to greet our regulars who stop by on a daily basis.
There is not better part of the world to live and work, and we are particularly lucky here in the Aghadoe Heights where we can enjoy the beautiful scenery right outside our windows.”
Siobhan O’Shea – Front Office Manager
“I have worked here at the Aghadoe Heights Resort and Spa for 24 years. It has been a pleasure over the years to welcome guests, old and new to the hotel. It is important to me to ensure every guest receives the “Aghadoe” treatment for which we are renowned.
What I love about Killarney is its closeness to nature and its breathtaking natural beauty. Here you can enjoy a different and beautiful walk every day of the year, that’s how steeped in beauty the area is.”
Breeda Lucey – Breakfast Manager and in-house florist
“This year I am celebrating 43 years working as part of the Aghadoe team.
I was particularly honoured to win the ‘People Award, Front of House’ in the 2014 Hotel & Catering Review Gold Medal Awards.
For me the most rewarding part of my job is meeting and greeting the guests in the morning, I like to look after them and give them a good start to the day. It’s important to me that everyone is happy when they leave the restaurant.
Living across the border in Cork but working in Kerry I really do have the best of both worlds. There is no better place in the world than South West of Ireland, with its natural beauty and friendly people.”
Michael Cronin – Heights Lounge Manager
“This is my 15th year working in the Aghadoe Heights Resort & Spa.
The highlight of working in the hospitality industry, and particularly here in Killarney, are the people you come across every day. I have always enjoyed meeting people for all parts of the world and working in the Aghadoe Heights can be like traveling around the world in 80 days.
While I love experiencing other cultures there is nowhere else that I would prefer to call home than Killarney. The Golf Course and the beautiful scenery are what I love most about living here.”
Noreen Middleton – Spa Manager
“I have spent eight years working in The Spa at Aghadoe.
At the end of each week when I am leaving The Spa I love to read our guest comment book. It never fails. to make me smile when I read the lovely comments written, and knowing that so many guests have checked out of The Spa feeling very happy, relaxed and de-stressed.
I love that we are spoiled for choice with fantastic walks and hikes with amazing scenery in Killarney. I try to get out and enjoy this every week. We are very lucky and blessed to have this on our doorstep.”
Mary O’Connor – Accommodations Manager
“I have been keeping the Aghadoe Heights Resort & Spa spick and span for the last 13 years.
I work with a fabulous team and I really enjoy the last glance on the way out of a room of the finished product that will greet guests when they arrive to stay.
What I really love about being in Killarney is the location, the people here are really special. We have the pleasure of living in the place everyone wants to come visit- we are so lucky to have the views and scenery at our feet.”
Jacinta Prendergast – Reservations Manager
“This is my 14th year working in the Reservations Department of the Aghadoe Heights Resort and Spa.
I really enjoy the variety of the job and for me the highlight is checking out the yield report each day to see how the hotel is performing. I also love the personal side of Reservations, dealing with our guests on the phone and helping them to plan their five star break away.
I love the outdoor life so I couldn’t be a better location than Kerry. Every amenity is right on our doorstep here and we are happy to share it with the hundreds of thousands of visitors who flock here every year.”
Trish Covarr – Sales and Marketing Manager
“I took over as Sales and Marketing Manager five years ago.
My favourite part of the week is welcoming a new Travel Specialist or Operator through our doors, it means I can go home knowing that the Aghadoe experience is about to be shared even further around the globe and our welcome will be extended to new faces.
Aside from its obvious beauty and endless list of things to do, I love the way Killarney people work together for the benefit of the town as a whole rather than only focusing on their own individual business. It’s all about the bigger picture.”
Geraldine Dolan – General Manager
Being at the helm of such an iconic hotel since 2015, is both a blessing and a privilege. A huge amount of thought has gone into creating the famous Aghadoe Heights style and ethos, and I am excited to lead an extraordinary team who has earned a fine reputation both nationally and internationally.
Having worked in the hospitality industry for over twenty years, I am relishing the opportunity to reside in this beautiful corner of Ireland, and have fallen in love with the spectacular views and famous Killarney charm.
Truly, the most enjoyable aspect of my position is meeting our guests. I love welcoming friends both old and new, and endeavour to create an exceptional experience for each guest. The hotel’s mantra is ‘Come as a guest, leave as a friend’, and the team go to great lengths, each day to make this happen.
As a Leitrim native, I am enjoying the many wonders that Killarney has to offer. I love the outdoors and have been exploring the wonderful Kerry countryside and rekindling my passion for hillwalking.
