Kerry Beaches to Visit during your Stay

The Kerry section of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way is perhaps the most scenic and most rewarding areas of the west coast of Ireland and home to some of the most beautiful beaches.

1. Rossbeigh Beach (34km from Hotel)

Rossbeigh Beach is a long spit of sand, beach and dunes, about 2km from Glenbeigh village overlooking Dingle Bay.

The Blue Flag beach is part of the  Castlemaine Harbour Special Area of conservation which protects local flora and fauna. Rossbeigh beach is excellant for swimming, its close to the water, you can even watch the waves while sitting in your car. The sandy beach slopes gently down to the waves. The pristine waters are popular  haunt for water-sports and fishing and the beach hosts an unnual horse race every year. If you are bringing the family along, theres's a superb all-weather playground named Tir na Nog.

Accredited with the Blue Flag status the beach is an excellent amenity for:

  • Swimming
  • Walking
  • Canoeing
  • Surfing
  • Building Sandcastles
  • Beach Fishing
  • Bird Watching
  • Wide range of Watersports

It is also a wonderfully relaxing experience to take a horse ride along the beach.

2. Blue-Flag Inch Beach (37km from Hotel)

This beach lies on Daingean Bay on the Dingle Peninsula. Visitors to Dingle will find this place well worth a stop as it is a perfect place to come at any time of the year to blow away the cobwebs.

When you actually see Inch beach the name may seem a little ironic for its expansive sands stretch for around four miles, across the entire south-west side of the Inch Peninsula. There is a surfing school directly on the beach and the place is popular with surfers and other water-sports enthusiasts. There is plenty of parking along the length of the beach. It is possible to drive your car right onto the sands, although cars which drive too far down the beach often get stuck in the sand, so best take care!

Inch Beach has views over Dingle Bay and the mountains of Kerry.
Inch Beach was chosen by David Lean as the beach location for "Ryan's Daughter", while the film "Playboy of the Western World" was shot entirely at Inch. It is four miles of beautiful white sandy beach and is very popular all year round. This beach is a safe environment for all types of water sports including surfing, kayaking, windsurfing and kite surfing. There is excellent bass fishing at Inch Strand, Bunaneer Strand and Minard Strand, all in the Inch - Annascaul area.

Lifeguards are on duty during the bathing season and more information can be found on the notice boards located at the beach.

Take a visit to Sammy’s Restaurant is directly next to the beach and serves Dingle Bay oysters as well as the usual streaks and cakes.
